Well, what can I say? You asked for it, I said maybe later, and here it is! Meet Velvet, she’s likely the first member of your party in Driftmoon. She’s a quick tempered Panther on a personal quest of revenge for her ex-master – your father.
Velvet will follow you around, attack whoever attacks you, and she will have a lot to say to you throughout the game. You can heal her by giving her raw meat, and you can leave her standing around, but she won’t stay put for long!
Who have been your favourite party members? What kind of people would you like to travel with in Driftmoon?

Niice, as with everything else, it all looks good!
Will there be any short cut keys? Like, press a button to have them stay/follow or execute any special moves.
Cause what I’m thinking, is using tactics to take down groups of enemies such as flanking and ambushes simply by having the other party members stay, whilst I go up to lure the enemies back.
Mmm, good ol’ party-based tactical combat. Of course, if you take tactical capabilities too far (or, to some, just far enough) you wind up with an RPG/RTS hybrid like SpellForce. Mind you, SpellForce was entertaining, but you have to make the engine RTS-capable right from the start if you want it to work, it’s too much effort for a late addition (as it would be trying to add it now). But if mouse-controlled companion orders wouldn’t be too hard to add, I wouldn’t be averse…
Right now I’m thinking you wouldn’t have complete control over your followers, so it would work more like in Fallout where your companions followed you and took orders, but you couldn’t move them by yourself.
A mischievous imp, maybe?
Looks GREAT ville!, and regarding to what members I would like to have… Well, I do not mind if it is a dog a wolf, or a deer, or a dinosaur (as long as it is not a T-Rex. It will eventually como to the idea that “You look tasty” and eat me
). It can be literally any animal/being/machine that can help me (Of course in the machines list, PLEASE exclude the UFOs, as it may eventually think “Mmmh, I think I need to experiment with my interesting party leader”, and will abduct me!
).
Okay, speaking seriously, I said: “It can be literally any animal/being/machine that can help me”, so I guess the list is pretty big.
Heh, talking panthers, everyone?
And having special spells to create allied creatures would be a good choice.
Temperamental Robots! Psychotic Aliens! Traitorous Humans!
Well the main problem I have had with computer controlled allies is either they are wayy to powerful and run around slaughtering everything. Or they are just suicidal and run into lava or attack enemies that are too strong for them, and you end up baby sitting them to keep them alive.
Something that I think needs be part of every storyline is humor! But it needs to be natural not forced.
By the way have you seen Cortex Command? (Physics based) or Dink Smallwood? (A little old action rpg) Both are excellent games by Indy developers.
Well thats all for now, I’ve played all your games and liked them all. Wazzal and Notruim were my favorites.
Best party members?
HK-47 (KotOR)
Minsk (Baldur’s Gate)
Morte (Planescape:Torment)
Not sure in Fallout, really. Don’t think Liberty Prime counts as party member.
@Eco:
Yes, I’ve seen Cortex Command and Dink Smallwood. Both excellent games I agree, though I really sucked at Cortex, and I never owned the full version of Dink.
Thanks for those party member opinions, keep them coming! I’ve played most western RPG’s, so I will likely know who you’re referring to if you want to name someone from some other game.
I think the full version of Dink Smallwood was released as freeware, although I may be confusing it with something else.
An ally panther? Sounds like inspired by dark elf adventures (Salvatore’s books). Good for me except that tiny look. It should look bigger, kinda size of the character in width, and 1.7 times as long as it is now! Also, the tail… well may be it’s one unlucky screenshot. You know what I mean.
Ah, you’re absolutely right, a panther should be bigger! I’ll change her right now.
At the moment there are no tails in the game, but I’m hoping to get an animated one later. I’m on a pretty tight schedule right now, so we’ll probably get to see the tail much later.
Cool! A panther! Hug!
Maybe you could have her help you hunt wild animals.
