Almost everyone is (at least partially) in a deadlock due to Zombie's inactivity...

If you can get yourself into the "game", just start the posting, Cejer.

Naughty naughty, Idiota, getting sidetracked like that...

Seriously, the whole point of the AETAS was that we would all be interacting together (hence the Zombie+Grim+Me plotline we had near the beginning). But as soon as one person stops posting, the rest of us start to jam up. It's like having a bunch of cars driving around in a circle. If one stops, the one behind it has to stop, and the one behind it, and the one behind it, et cetera until you've gone all the way around the circle. Only if there's an exit from the circle (my running off to talk to Tular, Grim's strange alien thingie, et cetera) can any of us get anywhere.

Just blow up Zombie's car. Unfortunately in AETAS that would be the equivalent of a mass "I murder you" post onslaught and if Zombie ever returns, there will be a reckoning. It's not exactly clean if a player disappears completely but you can clean up the car debris later.

I basically have enough time to check the forums every day now or if not at least every weekend (seriously, i was studying 24/7)

I still have to calculate the trajectory of a spaceship a la Vojager to other planets...

Anyways, if anyone can give me a mock up of the recent situation i COULD re-kick-start my empire, but ill have to skip the entire part on HOW i actually got the empire...

Idiota declared war on me, and by using MK's MC and Lamia, he managed to totaly wack my fleet stationed at Nemesis. My current loss in the Nemesis system have set the whole UFDC on combat alert. Jaden, Tular and Garo is caught in a base where several UFDC P.O.W. have staged a rebellion. Lamia is on an alien world, building a base there. The UFDC fleet, Democracy, is currently being retrofit for a possible counterattack on Nemesis.

That is what that have happened. And I'm feeling with you, school is terrible.

You're totally missing the "side stories" of Garret, Larry and Blue (Crazy's robot)!!!

Yea, sorry. Garret has been captured, or joined or something like that with the Aegrus. He now resides in the Aegrus compound. Larry is the "evil" twin of Garret, and is now causing some serious trouble on Nemesis. And Blue? Well, you know about him yourself.

Is it OK that I rewrite my empire history? It will not affect anything with the current state of it.
#
MageKing17 10 years ago
That should probably be asked in the AETAS website thread, since it's the only AETAS related thing that cares.

But yeah, it should be allright.

Thanks. The reason I want to make another history for my empire is that I thought the old one was too unrealistic. Also, I dont think it fits very well with my umpire.

I have finished my rewritten empire description, in order to elimitate any myths about UFDC.

I know it is long, but please spend the time reading it.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(Note: All places, coordinates, time, length and volume are measured in terran standards.)

Empire name: United Federation of the Diamond-system's Colonies, or UFDC. Named "Diamond Shoals" by commoners.

Empire's Main Race: Homo Sapiens

Empire Description: Its seeds where planted when the human colonies in this sector of space united and formed the UTP government for circa 250 years ago. Today, the UFDC is one of the dominant empires in its quadrant. It is governed by a social democratic government. Most of the human settlers where from Scandinavia, and thus the UFDC is influenced by their culture. Its official language is Norwegian and English. Most of the population also talks the galactic common language. The government style is very similar to the Scandinavian model, but with one big difference. It has an emperor. The Emperor is elected by the Senate, and has full control over the empire. However, both the senate and the people have the possibility to re-elect if 1/2 of the population wants it.
Despite its reputation for being aggressive, UFDC is always on search for new allies. UFDC is very active in the Inner Rim Trade-Route Union, which gives it access to alien technology and other goods. Because of the “One Hundred Years War”, (see history), the UFDC’s scientifically aspects are quite low. The economy was also hurt badly, but through the last years, the empire have experienced an economically boost, with nearly 7-15% economical growth each year. Humans, or Terrans, are known throughout the universe for their economical sense, and it is believed that the economy will grow in the coming years.

(Note: All places, coordinates, time, length and volume are measured in terran standards.)
Empire History: The star cluster UFDC resides in was firstly colonized by human and tletlequxian settlers. This quadrant was claimed by the Human Federation and their partners, The Tletlequxian League, because of its high resource density.
This quadrant, at that time named Epsilon Quadrant, had a high number of terran planets (planets with the same size, atmosphere and sometimes life like Earth) but there was one that was different than the others. This terran planet contained the remnants of an ancient culture. The planet was covered with 79% water, and the continents were covered in desert. This led scientists to believe that the ancient culture had destroyed their world, but the reason and how and why they did it is a mystery till this day. The planet was quickly colonized.
This planet also had strange diamond shoals, and therefore name “Diamond Shoals”. It became the capital of the human colonies in the Epsilon Quadrant, which where named Diamond Shoals Quadrant some time after its colonization. Through 300 years, Diamond Shoals’ resources were drained. When most of its resources were gone, it was terraformed. Today, this is one of the most successfully terraform-projects with terran life forms. The planet is covered in jungles near equator, and Scandinavian like ecosystems in the temperate zone. With pine forests, mountains and a mild winter.
Despite little contact with the rest of the Human Federation, due to the quadrant’s distance from the Federation, the colonies experienced prosperity. However, after approximately 500 years after the colonization of Diamond Shoals Quadrant, the Federation Guard Fleet left the quadrant, and the human colonies was thrown into a hard civil war, known as The Red War, where 16 factions fought for domination. The tletlequxian colonies where barely touched by this conflict, as they had formed a strong federation of their own through elections when the Federation fleet left. The Red War lasted for nearly 130 years. Through this time, almost 2 billion people had been killed. The humans who fought began to loose their beliefs in their factions. The colonies where tired of war. Soon, a peace treaty was signed, and a few years after that, a federation was formed, known as the United Terran Planets, with 8 states. The seeds for the UFDC were sewn. The structure of this federation was similar to the USA, with several states with their own laws, but counted as one nation. After 25 years, the different states signed a treaty that united every one of them under one government, but the name was left unchanged. The UTP formed an alliance with the Tletlequxian federation, and formed a friendship pact with a nearby native race called Anuctrity Junctus. Soon, the Diamond Shoals Quadrant met a new age of prosperity, known as The Golden Age. However, after 100 years of peace, an undiscovered race, who called themselves the Praganitors, arrived and colonized several planets within Anucrity space. The Anucrity protested, saying that this was their ancient territories. The Praganitors answered with several raids on Anucrity colonies. The Anucrity answered by dropping the now outlawed AVB, or Atmosphere Vaporization Bomb, on a Praganitor colony, which creates so extreme heat that the atmosphere begins to burn, creating a firestorm, consuming everything upon the surface. The Praganitors answer with an official declaration of war. This is the start of the One Hundred Years War, a war that drastically changed the Diamond Shoal Quadrant.
The tletlequxians joined the war early, as the Praganitors began to attack tletlequxian trading vessels. The UTP was neutral to the conflict for 24 years, but eventually, they where drawn in. One can’t remember how the UTP joined the war, but it didn’t take long before the empire was in full war.
The war was very unstable, one month, one of the factions had gained the upper hand, but in the next, they had lost it. In the beginning, the different factions operated independently, but after some time, it was clear that the enemy Praganitors was far more superior, and the different factions formed The Alliance, member empires was Tletlequxian Federation, the UTP and the Junctus Cluster. This didn’t turn the tide of the war, but it made it much easier for the allied factions in battles. The war had now raged for 50 years.
After 67 years of war, the Alliance saw that it wasn’t enough with combining the military power in order to overcome the Praganitors, but also combining the economical and the political strength. The UFDC, or United Federation of Diamond Shoal Colonies, was formed the year later, after intense discussions between the factions.
When the UFDC was formed, the tide of war finally turned. They were able to drive the invaders back from their own space, and finally brought the battle to the Praganitors homelands. After 90 years of war, mostly in the vast territories of the Progenitors, the enemy’s homeworld was found. It was immediately attacked, and was successfully conquered.
With the Praganitor homeworld under UFDC control, the free Praganitors quickly surrendered. The Praganitors was charged for crimes against sentient life forms. The Praganitors, being a vile and xenophobic race, was sentence to Stone Age Exile on their homeworld. After 3 years, all Praganitor installations were destroyed, and the race was left on their homeworld with no technology, forced to survive like they did so many millennia ago. Now, five years after the One Hundred Years War, the UFDC still finds it hard to stabilize itself. Due to the war, UFDC shows no mercy for xenophobic societies.

Society: The UFDC is a socialistic democracy. The state controls most of the economy, research and welfare, but still, everyone have an equal chance to become whatever they want in a peacefully manner. The three different races coexists peacefully, however, most of the different race populations are located on their native planets. The government does still divide the different planets according to what race that colonized them first.

Here is a list of the different systems in UFDC territory.

Map: http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/340/ ... lez8vk.png

Diamond Shoals: Human home system. This is the capital. A population of 6 billion, nearly 90% humans.

Temesis system: Human system. Most of the economy is located here.

New Paris: Tletlequxian home system. Nothing special.

Chrisn: Anucrity Junctus home system.

Nemesis: Military outpost. ---Warning, recently conquered by a DDC assault fleet. All entry to the system is strictly forbidden until further notice---

Autum: Human system. This system is in reality not recognized as a standard system, but an asteroid field orbiting a brown dwarf. However, this system is home to the two greatest wonders of UFDC space.
-The Great Derelict of Autum. In this system lays the rests of the biggest alien ship ever found. The size of a gas giant makes this derelict the most interesting landmark in UFDC space. The ship's technology is inferior to the modern races, but the size, the age (200 000 years old), and its origin (the ship's metal is an isotope that is not found in the Domus galaxy, or the ten nearest galaxies) makes this derelict the new definition of the word breathtaking.
-Great Shipyard of Autum. The largest shipyard in this sector of space. It is actually one of the hangars of The Great Derelict, which where built into a shipyard. The size? -Moon. The Autum system's several, mineral rich, high density asteroid belt makes the perfect place for building high quality ships. The Chronoshock was tested here.

Ship Technology: UFDC ships are polite and robust. There exists stories from the One Hundred Years War about ships that was nearly blown to bits, and still they were able to make it back to the base. The armour and hull of these ships is made of a special alloy, making them incredible strong. However, as a side effect, shields are often neglected, or not used at all. UFDC ships are built in huge automated shipyards, and thus are finished much faster than most expects. The ships are also modular, and therefore, they are much easier to retrofit.

Ground Forces Technology: The UFDC armies mostly use ordinary machineguns, and other kinetic weaponry. With the help of the Zero-Gravity Dish, all UFDC vehicles float in the air. This gives them the ability to move forwards nearly everywhere, either over water, rough terrain, through, or over, forests, and down clips. This makes the UFDC armies very agile and fast going. They are however relying much on the artillery or planetary bombardments from spacecrafts. All units are equipped with their own computer, which gives them input on how the battle is going, warnings or tactical advices. Their computer also scans the area, and can show “highlighted” enemies through the special contact lenses all units have. UFDC is also suing several kinds of robots, like sniper robots, supply robot, tank robot e.t.c.

Other Technology: Gravity Manipulation, Temporal Manipulation (to a degree), Advanced Artificial Intelligence.

Navy: Big and balanced.

Ground Forces: Big and balanced.

Economy: Average.

Empire Expansion: 5 systems fully colonized, and recognized as UFDC territory, 4 systems claimed by the UFDC, but not yet colonized, and 1 system guarded by a UFDC fleet, which contains the exiled Praganitor race.

Races: Homo Sapiens, Anucrity Junctus, Tletlequx.

Citizens: 14 billions, 10 billion humans, 3.5 billion tletlequxians and 500 million Anucrity Junctus.

Overall happiness: 70%

Preferred Character: Alexander "Gemini" Haraldson

Preferred Character Race: Homo Sapiens

Sex: Male

Character Description: Alexander was elected emperor after his predecessor died from cancer for five years ago, right after the One Hundred Years War ended. He is now on an excursion in order to find some old artefact that he believes will bring victory to the UFDC in the coming war. The Minister of War, named Thor, is acting as a regent in the absence of Alexander.

Gemini, for the last time, your ships do NOT HAVE SHIELDS. You said so yourself, and if I have to dredge through all of my chatlogs and all of your posts before I find it, so help me I will. But changing your empire so that you suddenly have shields is an imbalance, however small a role shields play.

MageKing17 10 years ago
Yes, this is a double post. However, the contents of this post are important enough to merit it showing up with a "new post" flag for those people that have seen my previous post. I have proof.

This is a chatlog of when Zombie, Idiota, and myself were planning our attack on the Nemesis system:
[13] MageKing17: I can't launch my attack without a group of the dummy ships.
[13] Idiota: you pop up behind enemy lines
[13] MageKing17: They have lots of heavy shielding, remember?
[13] Idiota: same effect
[13] Zombie: I think she plans launching an attack of her own anyways.
[13] MageKing17: I hide behind them and pop out to attack.
[13] Idiota: stop
[13] Idiota: hold it
[13] Idiota: they can't have heavy shielding
[13] MageKing17: Yes they can.
[13] MageKing17: No crew.
[13] Idiota: Gemini stated that their ships had lack of shielding
[13] Idiota: to me

[13] MageKing17: The whole point of them was that they had lots of shielding but their weapons were all point-defense.
[13] MageKing17: Nonono
[13] MageKing17: The dummy ships.
[13] Idiota: oh
[13] Idiota: yes, you are right
[13] MageKing17: I need their heavy shielding.
As you can see, Gemini's ships do NOT HAVE SHIELDS. End of story.

i would like to join and have an idea for a new race teel me if it is unbalanced

main race:homo giftus

the homo giftus is a ofspring of the homo sapiens but was by accident shot out in space on there planet after thousend af years they have found ways to project there lifeforce(han) out of there body and thus using it for protection travel and even to produce food.

they just invenyed there first space travel with little ships proppeled by han and decided to buil a bigger to start their yourney to earth

pros: they can use their han to repair and steer verrry quikley becouse they dont have fixed engines.
they can bundle their han together to create thing like a massive wall of matter acting like shields

cons: becouse they need to focus to use there han there are weak when cought by suprise.
there energy is limited to persons so they dont go fast and have shields.
individual they maybe could use there han to sense enemy's and communicate or light a little fire os something but only the very best can use their han really for combat

this is just somewhat an idea tell me is its good or not
#
Grim Reaper 10 years ago
Seems somewhat acceptable to me... The only problem (somewhat major one even) I find is your spelling.

Hurts my eyes, it does. Where were you from again, Cristallion?
#
The Gemini 10 years ago
Ok, maybe I said my ships lacked shields, but I never meant I didn't have shields! I meant what I stated in my empire description, that the shields was often neglected. This is what I REALY meant: "I have the shield technology, but it is rearly used, because of my ships' armour." I clearly remember I said something similar to Idiota. So, I have shields, but most of my ships doesn't have them installed.

And by the way, Cristallion, if you have WORD, or some other textprogram that can find spelling errors, just copy/paste it into that program, and follow the instructions.

Decided it might be a better idea to put my empire idea here, need people to give their ideas about it.

Latin - Loricatus Arachnid Quattuor Vesica
English - Armored Arachnid Four Blade
Short Name – Loricatus Vesica
Common Name – Skardos

Total Population (In the all of existance, not just nearby) ~500
(That is no typo, Five-Hundred – Home World and all colonies wiped out, only one small science vessel survived)

Technology:

Common (Stations – Ships – and all other equipment has it)
Configurable IFF neural interface – instant response time, and relays if ship is stolen
Armor is an array of diamond iridium titanium and small amounts of sapphire
Due to sapphire, all ships are a blue color and easy to identify

Light Fighters
Small and very maneuverable
High speed railguns – 100 rounds a second normal – 150 a second overloaded
Light shields – meant to keep friendly fire and asteroids a little less of a threat
(shields can be overloaded in one shot from most fighters, but recharge in ½ second)

Scout
Use temporal dilation device to change flow of time to allow extra fast movement
(Temporal dilation device can only be used 3-4 times before fatal overload)
Totally unarmed/unarmored
High power detection arrays – on radar looks like a big target beacon

Science Vessel – battleship size
(If this ship sounds overpowered, remember that my entire race is aboard it, and all are scientists)
Proto-type cloaking field – only 35% cloak, only works 10% of the time
Nano-repair systems
Proto-type Plasma-AntiPlasma cannon aka suicide cannon
(Think sun in a bottle and then turn it into a supernova, one time use as one can guess)
Nano-Construction systems – can make anything up to the size of a small cruiser
Proto-type emp field – disables 1 light minute radius, including science vessel
Can enter up to hyperspace level 20 or so rather than the normal levels (1-10)
(Causes problems for anyone/thing that looks out, also damages ship)
Dimensional Disruptor – allows travel between dimensions – MASSIVE damage to ship
(Massive as in use it and half the ship is gone, only usable at hyperspace level 20)
Dimensional Diffuser – spreads ship into 5 dimensions – lowers speed and damage taken
(Another damaging one, science is hazardous)

Non-Ship Technology
Knowledge of cloaking devices – too complex to build with current resources
Knowledge of building ring worlds and dyson spheres – only ringworlds have been made
Anti-Matter is commonly used in many applications

History

During a short span of time, a group of spiders on a distant planet in a different dimension obtained sentience, and proceeded to evolve into a new species.

This new species was a bit different from common spiders – rounded bodies; four legs with razor sharp edges, each with an arm a bit behind and above it; vision that included electro-magnetic waves; and last of all – the will to explore and learn.

They lived rather peacefully until an unknown alien race began to attack them, at which point they researched warfare technology and pushed back the aliens. Their mistake was to mess with different dimensions – leading to an invasion of another, more deadly species.

Within a year, ninety-seven colonies had been destroyed, and only the home world and a few others were left. When the final invasion began, it took only a few minutes for fifteen planets to be destroyed – along with all of the species except one ship.

The last science vessel, which had been hidden by a combination of a proto-type cloaking device, a nebula, and a highly radioactive asteroid belt, made a last attempt at escaping. The only thing that they could do was try a deadly maneuver and attempt to breach the barrier between dimensions again. As they left the nebula, the alien fleet closed in, only to find empty space.

The transition to the correct level of hyperspace sheared off all weapon systems, and when they split dimensions, they blew the shielding arrays off, as well as the entire set of dimensional shifting equipment. When they appeared, they were completely lost and unarmed, the only survivors of their race.

Race Abilities

Unable to speak – they use telepathy

When in combat they can use the two arms in front to hold one-way reflection shields, with weapons behind

Empire

Total Population (In the all of existance, not just nearby) ~500
(That is no typo, Five-Hundred – Home World and all colonies wiped out, only one small science vessel survived)

Leader – none declared as of yet, had more pressing needs

Empire Name – unknown as of yet, just appeared in a new dimension, have more important things to do first

"In AETAS, MageKing17" said:
So stop arguing that shields would rip our ships apart without a strong hull (which we got the FIRST TIME YOU SAID IT, that's not what we were arguing against) and get on with the goddamn RP!
First of all, I am not trying to convince you that shields would rip apart a ship without a strong hull; I am trying to convince you that anything a shield can completely stop is something that could hit the hull without causing damage anyway. A shield can only be set to a setting proportional to the strength of a hull, say 20%. The hull is then only 80% effective against internal damage like explosions. But the hull is 140% effective against external damage.

I’m not saying you can’t have shields. I’m saying shields should not act like a second set of hit points. I’m saying the hull should be damaged even when the shields are up. If you’re dead set on shields that make hulls obsolete, go ahead. Then I’ll just make full advantage of my stealth capabilities and you’ll be unable to detect me. I won’t be able to pierce your shields before you jump in a random direction, and you won’t be able to hit me. We could play an endless game of cat and mouse across the galaxy. Wouldn’t that be entertaining? Or we could compromise, I won’t use endless hit and run tactics and your shields will only significantly reduce incoming damage.

And your insistence that UFDC is just one person against three makes me laugh.
Seriously, the MC is a mercenary faction. They lack the industrial strength necessary for an extended war. Even with the Lathe they would be incapable of winning any sort of prolonged conflict with another empire because they lack any means of occupying territory. The MC has a population of less than 200,000. They lack the ability to occupy a small moon if an empire didn’t want them to. It doesn’t matter how skilled they are if they’re completely surrounded by a fresh enemy with everything necessary for warfare. Just because they’re classified as an “empire” player doesn’t mean they can stand toe to toe with an empire.

Lamia is a single character. And although Lamia’s ship is, in my opinion, a little more than the equal of most advanced battleships, Lamia only commands one battleship when decent fleets have twenty or thirty active battleships in peacetime and perhaps another sixty ships mothballed. Lamia’s allegiance may be significant in whatever battle she happens to be assigned to, but she can only be at one conflict at a time.

The DDC is a true empire faction. They have the industry necessary to provide food, fuel, and ammunition to their active fleets, and they have a way to replace lost ships. However, the DDC does not have as large an infrastructure as the UFDC, and so they cannot keep up with the UFDC’s ability to field military forces. Although the DDC is still using its peacetime army, the UFDC already has an army suitable for warfare in space. Ultimate victory in space will very likely rely on who can bring modernized fleets to the battles.

Ultimate victory on the ground will be much more difficult for the DDC because of the population gap. Even though DDC citizens are already the equivalent of trained infantry, the lack of numbers is going to be a difficult hurdle. Second, the UFDC forces will be being trained as defense forces. Soldiers on the defensive are much more willing to risk their own life for a significant tactical or strategic advantage. And because the UFDC soldiers have more to learn, they will spend more time in training with their squad-mates and forge deeper bonds. These bonds are essential to the success of soldiers. A soldier must be willing to lose life, health, and sanity for the sake of the mission, and the bond between squad-mates is often the cause of soldiers’ willingness to do so. The DDC could have won, but it has horribly blundered and I no longer see victory in their future.

As long as I’m critiquing the factions people have chosen, I will examine the UFDC. The UFDC has the largest population so far. As a result, even though the economy is weak compared to other empires that size, the UFDC has the strongest economy of the various factions. The UFDC is not primitive, as MageKing17 and Idiota seem to have assumed. Although very little scientific research is occurring, the UFDC ships are serviceable, though not exactly top of the line. As the UFDC ships also have very strong armor plating, they can absorb a lot of damage in battle, and repairs away from shipyards can quickly take place by replacing damaged armor plating. The largest benefit of using armor plating is that armor plating can often ignore significant portions of an incoming attack. The UFDC only has to outlast the DDC, as the MC and Lamia will have a very difficult time replacing lost ships. Given that it is almost impossible to blockade ships into a system, the UFDC commanders would look into the possibility of raiding DDC supply lines.

I don’t know why you’re being so insistent MageKing17. Rommel was able to see when Germany lost its chance of victory. He kept fighting, although he knew there was little reason for doing so. The MC, on the other hand, is not fighting for some concept of the Fatherland, but it is fighting for money and, possibly, reputation. The members of the MC have nothing to fear of acknowledging however they feel about victory prospects, and they have no special attachment to the DDC.

Lochen, your empire looks good to me, good luck not appearing next to the DDC. Just a quick question, was the super deadly species from another dimension… sphere-shaped? Probably not, I just think that it’s kind of funny that your species was wiped out by what could have been my EEToEE race.

Actualy, it was the race that made The Gemini's "The Great Derelict of Autum" ship. Well, at least the first aliens, the second group I do not know for sure about yet, just that it was deadly and noone saw them and lived.

For the killer species, think ships the size of a solar system. 500 of them.

See why they got they butts kicked?

Seems ok for me.

The reason why I don't partisipate in your debate is that most of my opinions are already said. Sadly.

Cejer, your arguments are entirely irrelevent. Whether or not in a real-life situation such things would be true, there are two things you have to remember. One, that this is not real life. Two, if Gemini were able to successfully repel Idiota, Zombie, and myself, it would mean that a single player repelled three other players. In which case there is a severe balancing problem, and all of our characters need to be scrapped and remade. Not that I'm arguing against that, really. I'd originally hoped that people would restrain themselves when creating their characters. It appears I was wrong. People are too dead-set on having the kind of super-advanced technology that made the EEToEE drop dead. Hell, even the AETAS has dropped dead. There have been only two vaguely interesting combat engagements (the Nemesis battle and the station fight), and both of those were kind of anti-climatic.

In fact, I call now for a vote on a restart. Now, don't get your panties in a twist everyone. This was first and foremost a test of a new RP. We've found some problems, and there are some balancing issues. So let's put this run to rest and start fresh. Let's fix these glaring balancing issues and decide once and for all what level of realism we want.

As a member of the council, I officially vote for a restart.

Meh, I don't care if they're irrelevant; I just like to argue.

Perhaps you would like to give several examples of appropriately advanced technology? It would be more helpful if you gave input on what level of technology should be used.

First of all, Zombie is a single character and, if I remember correctly, we all agreed that single characters would be almost ignorable when it came to empire politics. Second, is it really a balance fault if MageKing decided on less power than acceptable and Idiota failed to use his empire properly? (I was thinking Idiota would go to war with a swift blitzkrieg policy as would be fitting a technologically advanced but numerically inferior force.) Although I don't suppose that a remake would be all that terrible.

To prevent future occurrences of this problem, I would like to explain the theory behind skirmishes and raids. A skirmish is an attack by a small number of units used to gather intelligence on the enemy positions. Units involved in a skirmish usually withdraw shortly before enemy reinforcements arrive. A raid is an attack by a small number of units to disrupt the enemy’s supply lines, seize supplies, or destroy key enemy units. Units involved in a raid usually withdraw shortly after achieving their objective but abort a raid if enemy reinforcements make it too dangerous to continue the assault. The point is that if you want more combat to occur, there are a number of low risk options to keep the pressure up on your opponent.

Although I absolutely agree we should decide on a level of realism (even though I won't be able to argue as much), perhaps the problem was not in balancing our characters but the lack of one party using its assets properly. I will withhold my vote on the restart until more people have had a say in this.

I’m sorry it seems like I’m picking on you MageKing, but so far you have been the primary person who has been posting more than role-playing.

Me too. Which is probably this whole huge argument in the first place. ;P

Everyone, I'd just like to clear up something. I didn't call for a restart because of the issue on sheilds. It was just another tick added to the list of things I've been seeing go wrong. Maybe a reset is a slight overreaction. Whatever. I should probably just kill off the MC (or hand it to someone else) and start over with a new character. In fact, Zombie and I juts worked out a way to do it in RP style. I'd still like the vote to be carried out, but just know that I'm willing to work with it however it happens.

I don't care if we restart. Actually, a restart can give me a chance to fix things I'm not content with, regarding the UFDC. Let the counsil deside.

And as a side-note, although it's a little late: Although the DDC+MC don't have enough population to occupy the UFDC planets, they can still lay siege. This way, the planets can surrender to them without any ground battle.

I don't care about the restart much, as I know I probably should change some things about my empire, but I am so lazy I probably wont. I let the others decide.

Ok, Cejer. You say things about my empire that are true, but your conclusions are wrong.

I think that you realize my empire looks a lot like the Japanese one during WW2. Before the Us dropped the bombs, they were ar war with the Japanese, their frontline was slowly moving towards Japan. When they eventually reached the main island of Japan, they encountered a problem. The emperor of the Japanese ordered every citizen of the island, that would be far over 10 million, to fight for their fatherland. Now picture the Us not dropping bombs, but invading. They seize villages finding the people not resistant at all. Then, when their forces are scattered, out of every single house on the island, a family, armed fully with state of the art technology, comes out and takes on the US millitary.

My empire, is like you said, one war machine. Even the floor cleaner of the mall can wield a weapon at least as good as one of Gemini's troops. Then you haven't taken into account my real army yet. You can't place the entire population of your empire on one single planet all of the sudden. My troops on my defending planet would always outnumber and outclass Gemini's ground forces. In the defensing situation, I would win uless Gemini sends the major part of his fleet to attack, in which situation I would send an attack force to Gemini's planets to attack.

What I am trying to say here, is not that I am far superior to Gemini. This thing is balanced. The defending player is supposed to be in the advantage. It's always like that, unless in open space battle. We have 16 million people in the Netherlands, of which not even a million is in the military. This is the same in the UFDC. They may have a bigger population, but their combat-ready people are not that much higher in number. Still higher, but not much.
