    So I finished hard mode. 01:53:03.
    That was a nightmare. No, seriously.
    Probably only due to my completition obsession, since I could've skipped the hardest fight (two Annihilators - the hardest regular enemy: constant stream of bullet, only one weak point, super pellets, normal shots, split shots, random move pattern, pretty big, has a thing for pressing you against the wall).

    Don't try this unless you defeated Ballos.

    [Edit]
    And there goes Annihilation difficulty. 00:46:16.
    It's only a short sidestory quest which takes place before the main content - and the game doesn't break continuality:
    You don't get any upgrades for the whole time, so you're the same as at the beginning of the main content mission.
    That's the main difficulty. Also, you fight all of the most hard and annoying enemies, with ABSOLUTELY NO PROTECTION
    AND A WHIMSY LEVEL 1 GUN.
    The last boss is hardcore, but with a learnable pattern. Took me less attempts than the two annihilators on Hard.
    (Still, this was really, REALLY hard.)

    I've given up on hard mode. And I have defeated Ballos. Did too long on the plasma hydra and now the drone factory boss is just too hard for me. Are you using a gamepad or the keyboard?

    I found the plasma hydra on Annihilation easier than on Hard. Though I'm not sure I'll get much farther with this level one crap thing.
    #
    Narvius 13 years ago
    Keyboard.
    Are you talking about the Reaper Drone? The one that spawns thousands of identically-looking drones?
    It's one of the easier bosses, because it's highly predictable.

    Also, I just finished Iji as pacifist.
    #
    Amarth 13 years ago
    Yes, that one. I just can't outrun it for more than two of its cycles. Oh well. I suck. I've been playing with a gamepad though, I think it might make a difference in how fast you can react when moving...

    I tried a speedrun on normal, but I failed to achieve good results.
    00:11:30! More than 10 minutes! >:C
    (but at least I defeated Tetron without equipment.)

    Big pay-what-you-want action going on to help charity. Give what you want for a bundle of 5 top-class indie games, and split the money between charity and the developers.

    Games in the bundle:
    * World of Goo
    * Aquaria
    * Gish
    * Lugaru
    * Penumbra: overture

    Worth it even if you only miss a single game in the bundle IMO.

    The humble indie bundle. Go get it!

    [EDIT] all the games are also cross-platform BTW, Windows, Mac and Linux compatible!
    Now also including Samarost 2!

    And you get a coupon to buy the whole Penumbra series for a discount!

    This is insane.

    Yay, they reached $1 million dollars and began open sourcing the whole bundle! The last guy who donated before $1m gave $3333.33.

    Wow, Valve's giving away Portal until the 24th of May. Get it here.

    That's exactly why I love Steam.

    Meh. Seems good, but I bought the Orange Box, retail and everything.

    ... Hey, on second thought, I actually have some friends I can tell about this! They hear me talk about Half-Life all the time, but have never played any Source game at all.

    Portal is good, the idea is brilliant. Waiting for a sequel or prequel...

    Sequel supposedly to be released around semptember-ish, IIRC.

    Dude, you totally missed out on the CRAZY alternate reality game from just before the sequel was announced! You should keep tabs on gaming more.

    I've yet to receive some of the transmissions, but sure is fun.

    Also, I might get Portal 2. I can see myself playing coop already!

    Altitude is, indeed, awesome. If you've ever played Triplane Turmoil, it's kinda like that, 'cept way more fun. :3

    A highly interesting (over)interpretation of Portal. I agree that most of it may be the case, except the first one.
    #
    E_net4 13 years ago
    Though it really is a nice work, I have to disagree with most of its theories. That will be something to investigate after we are introduced with more theory from Portal 2.

    And this one is the continuation / correction of the previous one.
    It's roughly the same as what I thought after listening more closely / non-recreationally to Still Alive.

    These articles are probably not raw sewage containers. It is completely safe to rub your mind all over it.

    *Snaps out of it*

    That was quite a read! I agree with it just about completely. When I played the game through, I saw the shallowest storyline of all: You are trapped in a facility, the previous test runners all tried to warn you about something, and you just destroyed a gigantic robot running GLaDOS because it was the next thing to do to escape. This is a very different way of looking at the whole thing. But I have one question that isn't even entirely related: Why is there so much fish, rhubarb, and preservative in the real Portal cake?

    If by "real Portal cake" you mean the cake one would get if following the recipe given by the blue orb, I'd say possibly data corruption.

    Metroid Prime: Trilogy!
    I kind of owned it for four months, but a friend of mine instantly borrowed it back when I bought it (wasn't kind of a big deal, I was busy with Tales of Symphonia).
    Anyways. What lovely pixels and low-resolution graphics (at least in Prime 1)! I seriously like it

    The cake core may have been included for testing of GLaDOS on early development stages. Its components are (mostly) quite funny, as for me The devs must have had neat sense of humor.

    For the thread, I've never seen Hammerfall (game) mentioned around. Nice physics in there!
    #
    Narvius 13 years ago
    I'm pretty sure it was at least mentioned (I mean, I wouldn't have bought it otherwise).

    Okay, so. Metro 2033. After reading the book the story is spoilt a little (as in completely, 100%), but it's atmospherical nonetheless. And gotta support the russians, of course.

    By the way, did I ever mention Clonk, the game that cost me 300 hours of my life?
    It's free and open source now (actually, for some time already).
    It's hard to describe, but the easiest way is "2D building/multiplayer-killing/adventure/other stuff with easily moddable stuff (C based scripting language, robust engine) and other awesome stuff".

    I didn't know Clonk Endeavour went freeware! It was still commercial the last time I looked. *Downloads*

    A bit of edit here. In final version it was renamed into Hammerfight. Still can't find the name anywhere on the forum via search

    You know, I actually bought Clonk Planet, then Endeavour and then upgraded my key to Rage.

    20DM (previous german currency) + 15€ for 300 (and counting) hours (+~80 friend hours) is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to cheap.

    ---

    I actually finished Hamurfyte. It gets absolutely ball-breakingly frustrating later on, the arena fights stop making sense once the enemies start firecrackerspamming.
    And don't get me started on the final boss*. But the hunting still is highly enjoyable

    * I never retried it with guns, but it probably was so hard because of my zealous firearm usage denial.

    Hero Core - now in a post with 100% more linkage.

    I finished easy mode in 2 hours. Hard mode seems doable, the other one I'm not so sure.
    OH GOD.

    Finally got around to playing this, and it is easily the most awesome retro game I have ever played. I especially love the boss theme.

    I'm on Hard right now; good god, some of those bosses are pure Bullet Hell.

    For those that liked Hero Core... Or those that like horizontal shooters... Hydorah is out. It is too hard for me. Man. Ouch. I must really suck or something.

    Looks gorgeous though.

    Got a Mac? Then be quick and enjoy the free weekend of Team Fortress 2 on it! You'll also win a special in-game item. More here.

    Even though I don't have a Mac, it was enjoyable to see the small machinima. And I might enjoy killing players wearing those ear buds.

    Narvius 13 years ago
    Hydorah. Is. Awesome. My current save is with seven missions done and perfected (meaning "not a single scratch + all secrets so far found") - the first three, plus both branches of the first branching. Of course with shield, maxed spreadshot and scort, power attacks and speed. I also like it how you can read tons of useful informations from the mission map.

    I'm *so* going for 100%.
