Carvings

At this point I noticed the case was fast becoming one more wooden box. Some carvings were just the thing to make it more unique. After weeks of planning I came up with a design that pleased my eye. To further reduce noise and make the case prettier I decided to add little doors in front of the drive bays. In the picture I've printed out the designs and I'm modeling them out.

Here you can also see I've added a fan to the bottom of the case. In the back of the case there is a piece of replaceable plywood. Making it changeable means that I can have a differently configured back panel if I want to.

Planning the carvings.

First a picture of my carving tools. No gouges, only these two. Cheapest Chinese chisels you can get. These cost practically nothing. If you're not short of cash you can buy good sets of carving chisels for a few hundred dollars. I also had a little steel hammer I had made earlier.

My expensive carving set.

This is the first carving I finished. I had never carved anything in my life, so I was pretty proud of it. This piece will house the power and reset buttons.

My first carving ever.

Here are the rest of the carvings. I should have gotten better chisels, it literally took me months to get the carvings done.

Finished carvings. But hey, isn't the centerpiece aligned wrong?
