Wood CaseIn English In Finnish
Metal PartsThe power and reset buttons were also made from wood. The wood parts are connected to screws, which are held in place by metal plates. There will also be springs in between the metal plates to push the buttons back when pressed. ![]() Modeling the buttons. In the beginning of the project those were new gloves. The sanding machine soon took care of that. From inside the case the back plate of the previous picture looks like this. My brother kindly supplied some shrink-wrapping to the connections. ![]() The fancy electric work. I wanted to cool the hard disks with a fan, but I didn't want to install another fan to the case. I ended making a small rack for the hard disks from metal taken from my brother's old case. The rack is positioned right above the 12 cm fan. The rack can also easily be detached. ![]() The hard disk rack. It became apparent that the first hard disk slot cannot be used because of the wires. From the same metal I made a little rack for the CD-drives. The rack is glued to the top of the case, let's hope it holds. ![]() The drive rack. Later it occurred to me that there's no way to actually screw the drives in place, gladly they hold in place just as well without screws. At this point the most difficult thing was to properly fit the screws for the motherboard, and to cut the holes for the addon cards to the metal. The screw positions were modeled with a broken motherboard, another item provided by my brother. I was running low on metal working tools, so the holes were mostly cut with a metal saw. ![]() The motherboard back plate. Special thanks to Mikko for help with this.
