Google Flights - Online Flights Search Engine Portal

Google is rolling out some new features for its Google Flights the search engine will help travelers against some of the more frustrating aspects of air travel, travel delays, and the complexity of cheaper, basic economy fares. In terms of delays, Google flights not only pull in information sent directly from the airlines, but - they use their understanding of historical data and machine-learning algorithms to predict delays that are not yet marked by the airlines themselves ,

Explains Google, the combination of data and AI technologies means it can predict some delays leading up to any kind of official confirmation. Google says it does not actually tag these in the app until it has at least 80 percent confidence in the prediction, though. (Of course, you should still go to the airport on time, but at least you know what you're about to face once there.)

There are also reasons for the delays, such as the weather or a plane delay.

You can track the status of your flight by searching for your flight number or airline and flight route, Google notes. The delay information will then appear in the search results.

The other new feature added today is to help travelers make sense of what basic economy fares include-and exclude-with their ticket price.

These low cost fares are often the only option for those on a low budget, but you have a number of restrictions that may vary according to airline.

Google Flights now highlights the limitations associated with these TARIFFS - such as restrictions on using overhead space or the option to choose a seat, as well as the fare, the extra baggage charges. It is initially pretend for American, Delta and United flights around the world.

These changes come just a month after Google flights additional price tracking and deals with Google flights, as well as hotel search features for web researchers.

The additions seem especially targeted towards today's travel-start ups and companies, such as Funnel, which had just added hotel search, and uses, from big data to analyze airline prices and other factors; or TripIt, a competitor of sorts, to Google's own travel app Google Travel, which most recently introduced - security check-point times. (Given that Google already knows the busy times for companies of tracking people's movement, using Google Maps, it would not be surprising to see it implementing security wait on.)

The features are also a real-world-demo of Google's machine learning and big-data capabilities, especially in the case of flight delays. Since one can not take action on the warnings until the airline leaves an official announcement, it will essentially only cause more anxiety on top of your already stressful travel experience.
