    Hmmm, seems a little odd. Didn't think they could...

    I've seen several sites that check to see if anything in the profile was filled in... Perhaps, we could do the same, as bots almost always set up their profile on registration?

    I don't know if you're willing to require flash player to register, but a simple "game" of "connect the randomly placed dots in order" would probably work.

    I'd just like to report that a new section has been added specifically for spam. So from now on we'll just be moving the threads there until they clue in on their own. That forum will auto-prune (remove old threads) automatically, so we wont need to moderate it. It should also keep the General forum a little neater.

    Those tricks are old, and are indeed in use for access at porn sites, as described. Captchas won't keep them all out (as you notice around here), but they are not worthless, either. After all, it DOES create a minimal barrier that might stop half the spamscripts. Without it, the flood might be a lot bigger.

    I kinda like the ones where they ask you a question like 'how much is 1+3?', or even the one that asks you to enter 2 random big numbers and uses it to calculate pi (poke around on <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.ridiculousfish.com/blog/">http://www.ridiculousfish.com/blog/</a><!-- m -->.
